Event description

Join us for a Workshop to have your say on General Foundational Supports.

This Workshop is open to anyone with an interest in Foundational Supports. It will run for 2.5 hours.

*If you would prefer to join a smaller discussion group that is only open to people with disability you can register for the Roundtable conversations: People with disability event.

What is this workshop about?

Governments are working together to design and deliver additional supports for people with disability in the community. These are known as Foundational Supports. Foundational Supports are specific supports that would be outside the NDIS to help people with disability, and their families and carers.

General supports will include things like trusted information and guidance, peer supports and capacity building that help people and their families to engage in the community and to advocate for – and make decisions about – matters that affect them.

You can learn more about General Supports at General Supports | engage.dss.gov.au.

What we want to know from you

You will be asked for your ideas about what you and your community needs to better support:

  • access to trustworthy information, including information about services
  • decision-making and self-advocacy
  • connecting with peers and the community
  • families and carers to be empowered and supported in their role as carers
  • community organisations and public services to be more inclusive to the needs of people with disability.

Feedback received through these engagement activities will inform thinking on the design of general supports.

The Department of Social Services is leading the consultations. For more information about Foundational Supports, please contact foundational.supports@dss.gov.au.
