Travel instructions

By Car Drop Off: Enter through the main gates off Gympie Rd and head to the designated drop off area which is located to the right of the main information board as you drive in, there are 3 parking spaces marked as the Drop Off Zone. Parking: Enter through the main gates and turn right around the roundabout. Follow the directions of staff to the carpark, please note that this is a grassed space once you leave the roundabout. By Public Transport Outbound Bus: Get off at Gympie Rd near Telegraph Rd (Stop ID: 002524) and you will be on the side of the road that GDQ is on. Facing away from Gympie Rd, turn right and follow the path until you get to the guide dogs pedestrian entrance gate (please note, the concrete is raised in several sections where a cane can be caught). Soon after entering, you’ll reach at T junction, turn left and continue (cane users are encouraged to use the path’s edge as a shoreline here). You will reach a bridge with pool fence railings on both sides. Surface texture will change to brick, then wood, then brick and back to path (from here, cane users are encouraged to the right-hand side of the path as a shoreline). Slightly pass the bridge, you will reach a fork in the road, follow the path to the right. There will be a curb ramp on the left-hand side of the path that allows vehicle access to this area. Please use caution here. On your right, there will be a second path join that goes to other areas of the campus. Please ignore and continue straight to the sign in desk. Inbound Bus: Get off at Gympie Rd near Telegraph Rd (Inbound Stop ID: 002531). Continue forwards, in the direction of travel using the footpath. Cross Telegraph Rd using the refuge island with TGSIs. Continue straight for 20 metres until the footpath branches to your right, to cross Gympie Road that also has a refuge island with TGSIs. On the other side, you will be at the Outbound Bus Stop (Stop ID: 002524). Facing away from Gympie Road, turn right to walk 20 meters until you reach the Guide Dogs pedestrian entrance gate, on your left in direction of travel. There’s Brisbane City Council phone number clients can call to ensure the bus driver on the route is looking out for the bus. If the client or GDQ staff member calls 3403 8888 and tells the operator Location of bus stop, Bus Route and approximate time the person is catching the bus the operator will radio the driver. Train: Transit to Bald Hills Station and walk approximately 17 minutes to GDQ.

Entry instructions

Enter the event via the official Sign In desk. The Sign In desk will be located on the right hand side of the roundabout, facing away from Gympie road. There will be 3 lanes, one for VIPs, one for pre-purchased tickets, and one to purchase a ticket on the day.

After entry instructions

A large print map and program will be available on the day from the Sign In desk and the information desk. Please advise staff on arrival if you need assistance or a guide. Most activities are accessible via the established walkways and a designated accessible seating area is identified under the covered walkway.

Hazards

Risk assessments are completed prior to events, if you would like to review a copy, please contact the event manager. There are some uneven surfaces around the campus, as pathways change surfaces and in the transition from pathways onto the grassed areas.

Toilet location

Once inside the Anderson Centre Reception building, accessible bathrooms are at your 3 o’clock. A braille sign is to the left of the non-automatic bathroom door that opens outwards. There are also 2 accessible portaloos available - from the Information Desk, walk down the covered pathway 10m, then turn right at the first gap in the handrail. The path will change from smooth concrete to bitumen, follow this for approximately 50m until there is a right fork in the path, continue straight and the portaloos will be on your right hand side.

Accessible parking

There is 1 marked disabled car park available, located on the left side of the roundabout exterior. Staff and volunteers will be available to direct you to additional parking bays. Once parked, turn right (facing away from Gympie Rd) to find curb ramp & TGSIs. From here, turn right to follow the path the Sign In desk.
