Following the great success of its first edition, Opera Viva returns to the Brighton Italian Festival for a second time, once again bringing (mainly) Italian opera closer to the audience — quite literally!

Presented by Simon Gray, Opera Viva is an intimate, low-key semi-immersive experience where singers and audience share the same space.

This is not a traditional opera performance.

Instead, step inside the world of opera and experience a selection of mainly Italian opera in a completely different way. You might find yourself sitting next to Figaro, overhearing Leporello’s secrets, or becoming a silent witness to love, jealousy, passion and betrayal — all unfolding just inches away.

There is no pressure and no forced participation. Just the thrill of being inside the opera, rather than watching it from afar.

The first edition was a huge success, and our guests had plenty to say:

Now Opera Viva... a semi-immersive experience 2! is back — bigger in spirit, but retaining the intimate atmosphere that made the first edition so special.

Whether you're a seasoned opera lover or have never been to an opera before, this is a fresh, playful and accessible way to experience some of the world's greatest music.
