Oral History Australia and Oral History Victoria are very pleased to be hosting the 2024 OHA Biennial Conference: The Power of Oral History - Risks, Rewards and Possibilities.

Here you can register for:

  • the Conference on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd Nov. Registration can be for both days or one day.
  • the Welcome Drinks on the evening of Thursday 21st Nov, 6:00 - 8:00pm (also at Trinity College). The cost of this is covered by a conference registration, but please register your intention to attend for catering purposes.
  • the Conference Dinner, featuring the Sharing stories through song concert brought to you by Naarm/Melbourne's iconic multicultural music organisation the boîte and featuring ARIA award winning folkloric singer Kavisha Mazzella and acclaimed writer and spoken word performer Arnold Zable - Saturday 23rd Nov, from 6:30pm at the Eolian Hall, 836 Lygon Street, Carlton North.

Please note:

Early Bird and member discounts:

  • an Early Bird discount will be available on conference registrations up until the 1st of September 2024. Both early bird and standard registrations offer a cheaper rate for members of OHA State Affiliated Organisations. To become a member visit your OHA State Association website. A link to each can be found from the Oral History Australia website.
  • We have a reciprocal agreement with the National Oral History Association of New Zealand so that their members can access our events at membership rates.

      Join us in Naarm/Melbourne in November 2024 for a celebration of the power of oral history, featuring a keynote address from world renowned oral historian Alessandro Portelli. Our conference venue is the state-of-the-art Trinity College Gateway Centre on the campus of the University of Melbourne, in inner city Parkville, close to cafes, restaurants, parks, public transport and accommodation. The venue is accessible with a dedicated lift. 

      On Thursday 21 November oral history training workshops will be followed by the conference welcome reception in the evening. The main conference will be on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd of November, and on Sunday 24th participants may enjoy a variety of history tours in Naarm/Melbourne.
