Open Day 2025
Discover the joy of music and creativity at the Orange Regional Conservatorium! Join us for a day filled with exciting opportunities to try out classes, meet our talented teachers, and explore our vibrant musical community. Whether you're a beginner, a seasoned musician, or simply curious, this is your chance to ask questions, observe lessons, and experience the magic of music firsthand.
PROGRAM
9am - 10am |Â Mini Musos session (Parents /carers encouraged to stay and observe
10am - 11:30am |Junior Music Programs trial sessions
10am - 2pm |Â Information set up in the foyer. Come and ask questions, discover what we have on offer and find the perfect option for you. Staff will be present to discuss new and existing programs, the new building, enrolments, events and more.
12pm - 1pm |Â Come Together Open Rehearsal (Community choir who get together every Tuesday at 10am)
1:30pm - 3pm |Â Orange Youth Orchestra Open Rehearsal - join in and have a go.
WORKSHOPS/CLASSES
MiniMusos program (Parents/carers encouraged to stay and observe)
Time | 9:00 - 9:45am
Ages | 5-7yrs
MiniMUSOS is our pathway into learning an instrument and singing for young beginners. Participants will sing in groups while learning a new instrument each term in this year long program. They learn fundamental music-making skills that will make transitioning to individual lessons and ensembles smooth and rewarding. This program develops:
- Fundamental singing skills
- An introduction to 4 different instruments
- Basic music reading
- Listening skills
- Social skills

For kids aged 5 - 7 years of age. Year long program
Term 1 | Percussion & Singing.
Term 2 | Keyboard & Singing.
Term 3 | Recorder & Singing.

Junior Music Program (Parents encouraged to stay and observe)
Time |10:00 - 11:30am
Ages | 6-10yrs
Activity | Students have the opportunity to trial 4 of our junior music programs in a round robin style.
Fun and interactive Junior Music Workshop designed for young musicians to explore a variety of exciting programs! In this round-robin style event, children will spend 20 minutes in each session, getting hands-on experience and discovering what direction of music they would like to go.
🎤 Little Singers – Sing, move, read and make music in this playful introduction to vocal music for little ones!
🎻 Beginner Strings – Try out the violin or cello while learning the basics of string instruments and reading music
🎸 Ukulele Class – Strum along and learn fun, easy tunes on the ukulele—a perfect first instrument!
🎺 pBuzz, Toots, Doods & jSax – Explore beginner-friendly brass and woodwind instruments designed for young players to create big sounds with ease!
This workshop is the perfect way for kids to try different instruments, observe how classes run, and find their musical match.

Come Together Open Rehearsal
Time | 10:30am - 11:30am
Ages | OPEN.
Join our community choir for a fun open rehearsal. This choir is for all ages and all skill levels. You do not need to be a good singer to join. Come and have a relaxed, guilt free singalong and meet new people.
Regular rehearsals run Tuesday 10am – 12pm with a tea and coffee break at 11am

Orange Youth Orchestra Open Rehearsal
Time | 1:30 – 3pm
Ages | Open to any individual who plays an orchestral instrument at a minimum AMEB Grade 3 (or equivalent) level.
About the OYO | The Orange Youth Orchestra provides young musicians from Orange and surrounds with high quality orchestral education and performance experiences. Tthe orchestra seeks to extend young musicians and provide them with the chance to play a wide variety of orchestral repertoire. OYO is open to ALL young orchestral musicians of an AMEB Grade 5 playing level or above and are always seeking new members!
Rehearsals held Saturdays 1:30pm – 3:00pm
