Origami 2025 – A Boutique Garden Festival of Music, Art & Light

After two sold-out years and a 2024 Business NSW Award, Origami is back for an immersive evening where music, art, and nature intertwine to create an unforgettable sensory experience.

"If Vivid & Dark Mofo had a love child, it would be Origami."

Imagine a garden party meets immersive art experience—where the organic collides with the mechanical, nature meets technology, and an eternal 3am rave vibe—but softer, warmer, and more ethereal.

Immerse yourself in a sensory playground of live electronic music, hypnotic light & projection, avant-garde fashion, iconic DJs, and site-specific performances set in a breathtaking Japanese-inspired landscape.

The night begins with a spectacular costume parade, leading you into a world of creativity, movement, and wonder.

Throughout the evening, you’ll have the chance to dance inside the mini teahouse disco, stroll through meandering garden pathways, enjoy live electronic music at the Japanese pavilion, or immerse yourself in the dry-stone garden’s live performances & installations. If you prefer a more relaxed experience, simply sit back in nature and connect with friends.

FEATURING

DJ DUO STEREOGAMOUS

Music industry legends Paul Mac and Jonny Seymour are a Sydney-based duo making music and parties that feel like Mardi Gras all year round. Paul Mac and Jonny Seymour have remixed and collaborated with Kylie, George Michael, Sia, LCD Soundsystem, and more. Their beats have ignited underground clubs (Panorama Bar, Horse Meat Disco), mega festivals (Burning Man, Glastonbury), and fashion runways (NYC, Paris, Sydney). Known for their euphoric sound and high-energy sets, they bring dance floors to life worldwide—just don’t ask them to play a wedding in Australia anytime soon!

VJ DUO ST LUC

Renowned for their work at Vivid Sydney and the Londoner Light & Sound Spectacular, will bring the festival to life with mind-blowing 3D compositions, immersive storytelling, and dazzling visuals.

MARCUS WHALE

A musician and performance-maker whose work explores the intersection of music, ritual, and identity. Known for his solo projects and collaborations with Collarbones and BV, his genre-fluid sound often forms conceptual worlds, as seen in his 2024 album Ecstasy, which links rave culture with religious transcendence. His live performances blend music, costume, and immersive movement. Whale’s work spans contemporary performance, with pieces presented at Sydney Opera House, Carriageworks, Asia TOPA, Performance Space, and Next Wave. Several of his albums, including The Hunger and Inland Sea, have been nominated for the Australian Music Prize.

PUTRIKA

A Jakarta-born, Gadigal Land/Sydney-based singer, songwriter, and electronic music producer. Blending alt-soul electronica with layered vocals, percussive drums, and ambient soundscapes, her 2022 debut EP Silmara gained national airplay, with the track Monologue featured in Netflix’s Heartbreak High. Named FBi Radio’s Independent Artist of the Week, she also curates DJ sets rich in global percussion influences. Trained in Indonesian music traditions, she has performed at MONA, The Australian Museum, Sydney Festival, and Desert Festival. Fresh from a solo tour in Java, Putrika is now crafting her debut album.

MATT FORMAT

Hailed as the “Drag Mutha”, a visionary performance artist who seamlessly fuses drag, mime, and clowning into captivating, genre-defying experiences. Known for their surreal, non-verbal storytelling, Format transforms upcycled materials and found objects into evocative theatrical landscapes. Their work delves into queer introspection, pushing the boundaries of identity, transformation, and spectacle through constant reinvention. With an unmistakable aesthetic and a flair for the unexpected, Format crafts immersive performances that mesmerize and challenge, making them a trailblazer in the world of avant-garde drag and experimental theatre.
