Origami / Kirigami Workshop
Origami is the Japanese art of paper folding to create shapes and figures, however, kirigami uses the same folding techniques but includes a measure of cutting or gluing.
What will be covered in this course?
Students will learn to make one of the world famous Yoshizawa butterflies and a kokeshi doll from a range of decorative origami papers, crepe paper and card.
By the end of this course students will:
Know how to fold and cut paper, understand the terms valley and mountain fold to create butterflies and kokeshi dolls and use these to decorate greeting cards and bookmarks.

ABOUT THE TUTOR
Annie studied Japanese as part of her teaching degree, but sadly never mastered anything like fluency of the language. She did, however, become fascinated with all things Japanese and has been fortunate to have visited Tokyo. She loves the look and feel of paper and particularly enjoys the peaceful, calming nature of paper folding.
