Our Earthen Prayer Term 3 2026

Our Earthen Prayer is a women’s song circle held on Wurundjeri Country, bringing women together to explore song as a way of tending to ourselves, one another and the natural world.

Since beginning in 2025, OEP has welcomed many different constellations of women and taken on a life of its own, evolving with each group that gathers. At its heart is a desire to return to something simple: singing together.

The voice is one of the most accessible instruments we have, something we can draw upon through the many experiences of being human. Song can give expression to what words do not always reach, offering a way to move with grief, joy, change and the emotional landscape of our lives. Within the circle, our voice can become both a resource for ourselves and an offering we make to others.

OEP holds song as something that belongs within community life. Songs have long travelled between people and generations, carrying stories, knowledge and ways of tending to one another. What we learn within the circle is not intended to remain there, but to travel with us into our homes, families, relationships and communities.

Our gatherings are also shaped by an understanding that we are not separate from the natural world, but part of its living ecology. Through time spent in nature, listening, singing and creating sound in relationship with place, we explore how the rhythms and cycles moving through the Earth are also present within our bodies and lives.

The Shape of this Term:

This term, we are expanding from eight to ten sessions to create more time for the group to deepen together. We will begin and end with two extended gatherings held on a private property in nature, with eight Monday evening sessions held at our community hall between them.

Our opening gathering will allow us to arrive with spaciousness, share a potluck lunch, spend time on the land and begin getting to know one another before moving into the rhythm of our weekly sessions. Our final gathering will give us time to reflect upon, integrate and close the journey we have shared.

The intention behind this extended structure is to deepen our relationship with song and with one another. Practices involving repetition, collective sound and trance-like states are supported by time, familiarity and trust. By spending longer together at the beginning and end of the term, we can establish the foundations needed to explore this work with greater depth and allow the songs we share to become more deeply woven into our lives beyond the circle.

What to Expect:

A typical Monday evening may include arriving together, vocal and rhythmic warm-ups, learning songs by call and response, exploring harmony and collective sound, and time to reflect or share before closing.

The sessions are participatory, with invitations to sing, listen, move, improvise and contribute to the collective sound. There is no expectation to perform or sing alone, and you do not need to consider yourself a singer or have any previous musical experience.

Across the term, we will explore:

• Songwriting, rhythm and harmony
• Song as a way of tending to ourselves, one another and the Earth
• Sonic bathing and receiving the collective voice
• Song, repetition and mantra as resources for nervous system regulation
• The trance-like states that can naturally emerge through sustained rhythm, repetition and collective singing
• Exploring landscapes and places through song
• Creating soundscapes together
• Playful vocal and rhythmic practices that support expression and mind-body connection

There will be space to participate in ways that recognise different levels of comfort and experience.

Women joining us for the first time are warmly welcomed.

Intergenerational Places:

To support more generations gathering within the circle, your registration includes a place for one young woman aged 12–18 or one woman aged 65+ to join you for the full term, at no additional cost.

This invitation reflects our desire to nurture an intergenerational relationship with song and create opportunities for it to be received, carried and offered again between people and generations.

The intergenerational place is for the complete term rather than for occasional sessions. Young women and elders are invited to participate as part of the group and share the same intention of attending consistently. Their place must be registered in advance and is subject to the overall capacity of the circle.

Commitment:

Our Earthen Prayer is offered as a complete 10-session journey rather than as individual or drop-in sessions.

By registering, you are making a commitment to attend all ten gatherings. We understand that illness, work and unforeseen circumstances can arise; however, continuity is central to the trust, connection and depth we hope to cultivate together.

The term fee reserves your place for the complete journey. Individual sessions cannot be purchased, and missed sessions are not refundable or transferable.

OPENING GATHERING

Our first gathering will include song, time in nature, opportunities to get to know one another and a shared potluck lunch. This extended day will allow us to establish the foundations of the circle before beginning our Monday evening sessions.

Please arrive with enough time to settle before we begin together at 6:45 pm. As arriving together supports the experience of the group, we ask participants to prioritise being on time.

CLOSING GATHERING

Our closing gathering will carry a similar rhythm to our opening day, with song, time on the land and a shared meal. The focus of this gathering will be reflecting upon, integrating and completing the journey we have shared.

Investment:

Individual place — $400

This includes all ten gatherings across the term.

Come with a friend — $600 per pair

Register together for the full term and attend for $300 each. Both participants will need to provide their registration information and share the intention of attending the complete journey.

Payment Plans:

Payment plans are available. A deposit is required to secure your place, with the remaining balance to be paid by the agreed date.

Location:

The opening and closing gatherings will be held at a private property in nature, with the exact address shared following registration for the privacy of the property and care of the land.

The Monday evening sessions will be held at the Warrandyte Community Hall. Full addresses, access information, what to bring and preparation details will be provided to registered participants.

After registering, you will also receive information about joining our term communication group and completing the OEP participant agreement.

Eddie FitzPatrick - Vocalist

Eddie FitzPatrick is a creative producer, singer songwriter & facilitator living & loving on the lands of the Wurundjeri & Boonwurrung people of the Kulin Nations. Trained in Community Arts & Vocal Sound Therapy, her passion lies with the art of gathering for collective catharsis & the innate creativity that lies in everyone.

Vicki - Vocalist

Vicki has journeyed as a vocal coach for many years, holding ritual at the cornerstone of her practice. She knows that through singing, oneness, & resonance, we can come back HOME to being free with sound, song & harmony;witnessing that freedom ripple into all parts of our lives.

Jade - Facilitator

Jade is dedicated to supporting women to connect with their bodies, their wombs, & the Earth. Through bodywork, rites of passage, women’s circles, & cyclical awareness, she creates heart centred spaces that nurture both personal & communal growth. Supporting women in embracing the textured experience of their feminine journey with grace & resilience.
