  Richard Keech together with Tim Forcey established MY Efficient Electric Home in 2016, a successful Australian community forum hosted on Facebook. It focuses on home electrification and energy efficiency. It has about 163,000 members and 38,000 visitors. MEEH is helping drive the surge in interest in home electrification in Australia and educating those trying to do it. Richard and his wife took a staged approach when they began retrofitting their home. He wrote the 2015 book Energy Freedom Home and co-wrote a 2012 report, The Zero Carbon Australia Buildings Plan, saying the benefit wasn’t just economic. “You’re not just spending less on your energy bills. You’re becoming more comfortable. You’re cosier in winter and cooler in summer, and the number of hours you need heating is reduced, so your energy use is reduced, too.”

  Thomas Campbell is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Western Bulldogs, North Melbourne, St Kilda and Melbourne Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Campbell is also an advocate for greater action to combat climate change and outside football is involved in several climate change projects.[10] Campbell launched the AFL Players for Climate action initiative in 2021, later renamed Footy for Climate.[12] His call to action aims to use sport and athletes to increase attention and drive action on climate change, with the goal to help Australia halve its emissions by 2030 and reach net zero before 2050. In Campbell’s words, “The Cool Down is an open letter campaign calling for urgent climate action.”. “We’re athletes, but we’re all Australians,” he told North Media. “We all lived through the 2019/2020 bushfires and saw the devastating impact of that on our country. “We saw the impact it had on sport, with the Australian Open being affected by smoke and extreme heat. “We’re also seeing climate change have an effect on sport at the local level with grounds being unplayable or unfit for competition. “We care about the future of our country and our planet.”
