"Our Fathers" with Man Alive Theatre
Event description
“Every man is either trying to make up for his father’s mistakes or live up to his expectations”
- Barack Obama
Love them or hate them (or somewhere in between), our fathers will have had an impact on the men we are today. For good or bad, to some extent or other, our fathers have shaped or influenced who, what and how we are men in the world.
Would you like to do a little unpicking of your relationship with your father?
Thom Bailey and Andy Wood are running a taster session using some theatre techniques and processes as a mechanism for exploring our son-father dynamics.
You don’t need to have any drama or theatre experience and you’re not going to have to be in a show. We use a technique called the Theatre of Self Expression to reflect upon and gain a better understanding of the influence our fathers have on our personalities, values, ambitions and self-esteem.
If you like how we work and want to spend more time exploring this key relationship in your personal development, then we will be subsequently offering two further workshops in which to do so.
Thom and Andy have been running Theatre of Self Expression workshops for over ten years together. Thom is a theatre director based in Lowestoft and Andy has been running men’s groups for MensCraft for twenty-odd years.
Taster day: Saturday 27th September, 11am - 4pm (bring your own lunch)
Price: £25 (£15 concessions); Maximum of 12 participants
The two follow-up workshops are on Saturdays 11th and 25th October
