CANCELLED: Our Islands, Our Home - Supporting Indigenous Self-Determination Learning Circle
Event description
PLEASE NOTE: Unfortunately, we have decided to cancel the session due to a lack of response. It's always a challenge getting people to sessions in December and we think rather than take up the time of the speakers it's best to simply continue to promote the work through communications and not a live session
The Torres Strait Islands are low-lying islands exposed to sea-level rise impacts - they are among the most vulnerable regions to climate change in Australia.
Join us to learn about climate change impacts in Zenadh Kes (the Torres Strait Islands) and how we can create innovative ways of bringing new audiences into the climate movement through merging Indigenous practices and modern campaigning.
We’ll also hear an update from Lisa Viliamu Jameson about Our Islands, Our Home. Supported by the ACF Impact Fund and several ACF sub funds, this climate justice campaign demonstrates how solidarity between First Nations people across the Pacific is building a powerful grassroots climate movement.
Speakers
Yessie Mosby, 350 Australia
Mary Maselina Harm, Pacific Climate Warriors
