Dr Chris Purnell - Birdlife Australia OUR MIGRATORY SHOREBIRDS: TURNING THE TIDE ON HABITAT LOSS and the Floating Roost Trial
The Queenscliff Centre - Deakin Marine - next to Marine and Freshwater Discovery Centre open to public only during our holiday program
Queenscliff VIC, Australia
Event description
Sandpipers, stints, greenshanks, knots, godwits - these remarkable creatures can fly through (and over!) 23 countries twice a year in their annual migrations from here to Alaska and Siberia. With their habitat under pressure from coastline development and climate change, migratory shorebird numbers are in decline.
Dr Chris Purnell, Wetland Birds Program Manager from Birdlife Australia, will deliver stories of wonder and share inventive projects that are happening on our shores and around the world.
