    Event description

    قصصنا: فن وثقافة في ظل الأزمات

    In times of sorrow and despair, it is important that we come together in support and share in our grief.
    ALCASA has held many events to celebrate the richness of Arabic culture, but on Oct 19th we invite you to join us in expressing yourself in response to the recent developments in Arabic-speaking countries.
    This event aims to offer comfort, support, and a sense of community by hosting an expression of individual and community feelings through art and/or words (i.e. painting, drawing, writing), and an evening full of singing, traditional dabke dancing, and other expressions of community togetherness/solidarity.

    Please bring a plate to share. ALCASA will provide tea and Arabic coffee.

    ~~~~~~~~~~
    Interested in expressive writing but not sure how you might be able to engage?
    You can frame your message around addressing the wider community, to those around us here who do not seem to be aware with what our community is going through. Your message may be in English or in Arabic, as short or as long as you would like, keeping in mind, the time frame of the event and your willingness to complete the expression at home if it isn't completed during the event. You can direct your expression to one person or to many. It could be a poster, a poem, a script for a speech, a letter, etc. The options are endless!
    You are welcome to either start your expression during the session, or bring along something that you have started from home, whether that is because you wish to create with community, or that you hope to receive support from volunteers to discuss/fine-tune/edit your message/expression.
    Volunteers will be available to help you throughout your process.
    We look forward to reading/interpreting what you have to share!
