Out of the Depths - Book Launch

In June 1945, before the full scale of the Holocaust was known, researchers began collecting songs written and sung by Jewish prisoners in Nazi camps and ghettos, resulting in Out of the Depths (Mima’amakim)- a rare songbook of which only a handful of the original 500 copies survive; now reintroduced for a new generation, it features translated lyrics by Joseph Toltz, with contributions from Anne Booth, and was originally edited by Yehuda Eismann, alongside melodies and the stories of the composers, standing as a powerful testament to despair, hope, resilience, and a lasting memorial to Polish Jewry.

This program is co-presented by MHM and Kadimah.
