Out of the Shadows

Event description

Tragically, over 3,000 Australians lose their lives to suicide every year. These people are our family, friends and loved ones.

Join Lifeline Northern Beaches, Northern Beaches Cares, Roses in the Ocean and Mowana Safe Space for a memorial and walk for World Suicide Prevention Day. This memorial and walk will honour and remember those we’ve lost to suicide and raise funds to provide crisis support and suicide prevention services to save lives on the Northern Beaches.

You can walk to remember a loved one, as a personal tribute for a friend or family member, or to show your support for Australians experiencing emotional distress or mental illness.

Through connection, compassion and hope, we will unite to raise awareness, overcome stigma and commit to preventing further deaths by suicide.

Together, we will ensure that no one has to face their darkest moments alone.

Join us at  Bilarong Reserve from 7.30am you can choose to walk the full circuit around the beautiful and peaceful Narrabeen Lake (just over 8km), or you can choose a distance that is appropriate for you. Before embarking on your walk, join the memorial service hosted by Community Northern Beaches and Roses in the Ocean at 8am culminating in a rose ceremony.

Join the Mindfulness and Flow Station facilitated by Jade from Luxe Yoga either before or after your walk. Here you can stop a moment and remember your loved one in a peaceful and supported environment. Mowana Safe Space will be there with information and support alongside Northern Beaches Cares and Roses in the Ocean. Lifeline Northern Beaches Counsellors will also be on hand should you wish to talk.
