Event description

OO acknowledges the traditional owners of the land we gather and run within. We acknowledge 60,000 years of care, respect and stewardship of the Country that we experience when we run.
We pay our respects to elders past, present and future. We acknowledge that sovereignty was never ceded and support the treaty process - It always was and always will be Aboriginal land.


OO 35 TR - Ultra Trail Australia Training Run

OO annual UTA training. Two runs, one longer, one shorter, on the UTA terrain/course.
Both on trail at no one left behind pace.
Open to all, not just those racing. 

Route: Two distance options, both Dharug and Gundungurra Country, Blue Mountains National Park.

Option 1

  • 15km, 750m vert to suit UTA 22
  • Est duration 1:45-2:45hr

Option 2

  • 35km, 1,700m vert to suit UTA 50
  • Est duration 4-5hr

Public Transport: Meet at Central Station at 6:10am to catch the 6:24am Lithgow BMT Train (Blue Mountain Train) to Katoomba station.

Driving: Meet at Carrington Park, Katoomba at 8:30am.

NOTE - There is a road run of approx 1.5km to get to Carrington Park from Katoomba Station for those catching the train.

We expect to start both runs at the same time approx 8:45-9am.

WhoPlease ensure you are able to run the distance.
Running on trail is more challenging that running on roads - take note of the estimated duration above.
We'll take regular stops to regroup, and run at a steady no-drop pace.

Gear Library:
We have a library of trail gear available you to borrow.
During the checkout for this event, you have the option to select a vestwaist-belt or trail shoes.
We will bring this to the start for you on the day of the event.

What to wear:

  • This is a great opportunity to test out your race pack with all the mandatory gear ahead of race day, if you are racing.
  • Running clothes (necessary)
  • Trail running shoes (highly recommended)
  • Trail running pack/belt (highly recommended)
  • Light rain jacket (if raining)
  • Please double check the weather on the event day and come prepared, mountain weather can be a unpredictable.

What to bring:

  • This is a great opportunity to test out your race day fuelling plan ahead of race day, if you are racing.
  • Please consider the distance and estimated time above to ensure you bring enough hydration/fuel.
  • Water in bottles (at least 500mL) with Electrolyte/Fuel
  • Snack (bar/s or gel/s)

Bag drop: We will have a car at Carrington Park where you can leave gear if required.
