Outsmarting scammers in research and publishing: tips from a battle-hardened editor
Event description
We live in a world where access to high quality information is at a premium, yet the challenges of knowing what and who to trust have never been harder. Academic journals are at the forefront of this information war, and editors have had to become adept at navigating it to ensure their journals' role as trusted collaborators with academics and trusted sources for readers.
Professor Ginny Barbour, who is currently Editor-in-Chief at the Medical Journal of Australia and has worked across publishing in three continents, and the Co-Chair of the Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA), will give an insider's view on what to beware of and how to thrive in this new Information Age.
The public talk will commence at 4pm, and we invite you to join us for a drinks and nibbles reception afterwards.
With thanks to QUT Vice-Chancellor Professor Margaret Sheil AO for hosting this special event. Please note this is an in-person event, and places are limited.
