Description

Matthew will discuss Oyster Bay’s local history and his dedicated research pertaining to Oyster Bay’s participation before and during the Battle of Long Island in the Angela Koenig Gallery Center. He will continue to engage the community in an in-depth conversation about the Oyster Bay resident’s involvement while under British occupation through 1783.  Immediately after the lecture, a quick tour of a current exhibition featuring artifacts and relics in the Earle Wightman Historic House built in 1720, related to the years of American independence. This is inclusive of an authentic "Red Coat" worn by Oyster Bay loyalist officer, Penn Weeks, currently on display. The Historic House tour also includes a mini exhibit “History of the Uniform” of veterans of Oyster Bay, worn throughout various wars throughout history.

The lecture will start promptly at 7:00pm, in the (the Barn) Angela Koenig Gallery Center.
