OzDAFNE Health Professional Workshop

This workshop provides information about the OzDAFNE program to health professionals involved in the care and support of people with type 1 diabetes.

DAFNE stands for Dose Adjustment For Normal Eating and is a comprehensive education program that helps people manage their type 1 diabetes and adjust their insulin doses. It is known as OzDAFNE in Australia. 

This workshop will give you the confidence to support your clients to continue to use OzDAFNE guidelines and principles after they have completed the OzDAFNE program.

One recent workshop attendee said they now have “more confidence in helping clients with insulin adjustment in relation to carbohydrates and blood glucose levels.”

Expert OzDAFNE facilitators from Diabetes Victoria will explain OzDAFNE guidelines for:

• Insulin dose adjustment
• Carbohydrate counting*
• Hypoglycaemia management
• Ketone and illness management
• Physical activity

You will also be given the opportunity to hear from an OzDAFNE program participant, and to learn about the accreditation and training process for OzDAFNE facilitators**.

This workshop is delivered as a pre-recorded online presentation. You will be provided with a number of activities to help practise the guidelines you learn during the workshop. Please allow 5 to 7 hours to complete the full workshop.

You will be sent the video link and supporting handouts via email within 2 business days of registering.

As the Workshop is pre-recorded, you will be able to view the presentation and participate in the activities at your own pace and in your own time.

You do not have to complete it on or before the event date listed. The OzDAFNE Health Professional Workshop is an ADEA Endorsed Educational Program. Successful completion of the workshop provides you with 7 CPD points.
