Event description

OzHarvest invites local schools to find out about our Curriculum Aligned FEAST program and our Pathways program Nourish.

FEAST is a curriculum-aligned education program, which explores the issue of food waste and its environmental impact, positive food choices and easy classroom cooking.

The FEAST high school program addresses the Australian Curriculum in Design and Technologies and Food Specialisations content. Designed by teachers for teachers, the program is easy to deliver, flexible and adaptable to any class needs.

The FEAST curriculum package includes everything you need to teach the program including:

  • Online teacher training professional development
  • Online resources including recipes, lesson plans, units of work, assessment rubrics and student workbooks
  • A $350 Woolworths voucher to cover groceries (for eligible schools)
  • A class-set of ‘Use It Up’ tapes
  • Ongoing support from your FEAST coordinator to embed the program into your teaching practices

Nourish is a hospitality training program for young people aged 16-25 who face barriers to education and employment. OzHarvest runs the bespoke 18-week program, free of charge, where students graduate with a nationally recognised Certificate II in Cookery, new life skills and opportunities for work or further education.

The program has in-house youth workers to support individuals and help find post-program pathways for each student. OzHarvest uses its vast network of industry contacts and partnerships to support students beyond the qualification into education, training, and employment.

Nourish runs in Newcastle (Windale PCYC), with two intakes per year in February and August.
