It is estimated that each year Australian students throw away 5 million sandwiches, 3 million pieces of whole fruit, and 3 million items of packaged food.
We can all be part of the solution to fight food waste, starting TODAY!
Kick start the year with healthy waste-free lunchboxes and join OzHarvest’s Educator and Nutritionist Amelia Berner, as she explains the issue of food waste and discusses how to avoid wasting food at home and at school in a fun and healthy way.
This 30 min online workshop will cover:
- The issue of food waste
- Why and how you should focus on giving your children a waste-free healthy lunch box
- How to put your newfound knowledge into practical solutions
- Waste-free and nutrition myths and facts quiz
About Amelia Berner:
Amelia Berner is OzHarvest’s Food Education and Sustainability Training (FEAST) National Program Manager, which combines nutrition, food waste and sustainability in a school curriculum-ready package. Amelia’s passion for nutrition and environmental education stems from over a decade of experience as a Food Technology teacher and working as a practicing nutritionist. Amelia is a NSW Public Health Association Australia committee member and holds a Masters in Human Nutrition. This enabled her to develop the FEAST education program that ensures all children have the ability to learn where food comes from and how it is prepared sustainably.
