P&F 2023 Charity Morning Tea

The annual P&F Charity Morning Tea will be held on Wednesday 5 April (last day of term) at the Boathouse. This is a wonderful Riverview community event, with all proceeds going to a different charity each year.

This year, six health aligned charities were nominated by the P&F Executive Committee for consideration, and a vote was conducted. The chosen charity is the Centenary Institute, and specifically the Agnes Ginges Centre for Molecular Cardiology, for its study of genetic heart disorders. Tragically up to four young people between the ages of 1 and 35 lose their lives each week in Australia due to sudden unexpected cardiac death.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Centenary Institute in memory of our Riverview boys who recently died from sudden, unexpected cardiac or aortic disorders:

• Xavier O’Grady (OR 2019);
• George Dummer (Graduating class of 2023); and
• Darcy Henry (Graduating class of 2024).

Similar to last year, the theme for this year’s charity event will be “Art to Aid”. Artworks, sourced from artists both inside and outside the Riverview community, will be on display and available for purchase.

We have taken onboard the feedback from many working families who would have loved to have been able to attend the Charity Morning Tea in previous years but for whom the 10am timing was difficult. To ensure we can welcome as many members of the College community as possible in the Boathouse on 5 April, we are offering two sessions, with an additional session from 7:30am to 9am.

The ticket options are as follows:

• 7:30am to 9am: $20 - view and purchase artworks and enjoy a tea/coffee and pastry; or.
• 10am to midday: $35 - view and purchase artworks, enjoy morning tea and hear from our guest speakers.

The guest speakers at the charity event will be:

• Professor Christopher Semsarian AM, Head of Agnes Ginges Centre for Molecular Cariology at the Centenary Institute
• Patrick O’Grady and Alison Grove O’Grady, the parents of Xavier. The research work of the Centenary Institute was brought to the attention of the P&F Committee through some members of the P&F being aware of the O'Grady family's fundraising efforts, Heartbeats for Xav

Please note, due to the limited capacity of the Boathouse, there are only 200 tickets available for each session respectively. With this in mind, please book early to avoid disappointment.

• 3 Tickets = $20
• 10 Tickets = $50

Winners will be announced at the morning tea. If winners are not in attendance, they will be contacted.
