Scattered paddock trees are disappearing from Australia's farming landscapes. Most people don't know it's happening. Please join us to celebrate the launch of Paddock Trees Under Threat: Insights for Conservation and Management published by CSIRO Publishing. Authors Distinguished Professor David Lindenmayer, John Baker, and Elizabeth Baker will be presenting short talks about the Book and Senator for the ACT, David Pocock, will open the event. This will be followed by cheeseboards and wine for guests to enjoy as they socialise. Tickets are free and we hope to see you there!

Led by Distinguished Professor David Lindenmayer, Long-Term Ecology consists of ten full time field based researchers within The Australian National University. Each member of the team is highly experienced in ecological monitoring and several staff have worked with the team for over a decade. Since 1983 the research team has conducted major long-term ecological monitoring and was formerly know as The Conservation and Landscape Ecology Group.

Some of our research includes; targeted monitoring of the endangered Leadbeater’s Possum in Victoria’s Central Highlands, working with the local indigenous community to monitor small mammal populations, in Booderee National Park in Jervis Bay, and checking 15,000 artificial substrates every two years as part of a reptile study. Also, within the framework of the major studies, dozens of PhD, Masters, and collaborative studies are hosted.

We also work closely with landholders, Parks staff, organisations, university students, academics, and hundreds of skilled volunteers each year. The research undertaken would not be possible without the assistance of all of these participants. We would like to also show respect and acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land, of elders past, present and emerging, on which this research takes place.
