An evening with Paddy McHugh - Fundraising Campaign Launch and Concert
Event description
In January 2025 Paddy will be launching a crowd funding campaign to fund the recording and release of his third studio album. This event is a private celebration for Paddy's closest fans and friends to gather, listen to a live performance of the songs from the new record, launch the campaign and to mobilise the first wave of donors and supporters.
Paddy McHugh is an acclaimed singer-songwriter working out of Meanjin/Brisbane Australia who for over 20 years he has been touring all over Australia and the world performing his unique style of no bullshit politically charged folk/county/punk. Paddy has played at nearly all the festivals you can name and sung his guts out in every hall, pub, dive bar and backyard in between. Paddy's work has won numerous awards and he has had the support of many likeminded artists who share similar values and have invited him share the stage, artists such as Kinky Friedman, Hayes Caryl, Eddie Spaghetti, Fanny Lumsden and Sinead O’Connor to name but a few.
However, being an artist and making records is expensive. There are studio costs, engineer costs, musician fees, graphic design, mixing, mastering, flights, accommodation, promo, film clips... It’s a lot. And furthermore, with the advent of streaming services, musicians have lost the ability to make money by selling their music. Which is why Paddy is reaching out to his community to help me take this dream of making a new record and turn it into reality. He simply can’t do it without your help.
Why even make a record? Paddy is really proud of the songs that will be on this record. They are all written and ready to go and they are some of his best songs to date. In fact, one of the unreleased tracks called “Hatchet in the Roof” won the Alistair Hullett Songs for Social Justice Award at the 2024 National Folk Festival. But don’t worry it is not all serious. There will also be songs about life, love and loss, all the things!
Paddy has a proven track record of making solid records and has a great team of engineers, musicians, his label ABC music all ready to go. He just needs the money to fund it.
One of the best parts about this fundraising campaign is that Paddy has the support of Creative Australia who has selected Paddy to be one of only a few participants in this year’s MatchLab program which means that all donations up to 10,000 dollars will be matched dollar for dollar by the Government. That’s right, for every dollar you donate Paddy will receive 2 which effectively halves the amount of money he needs to make this record.
So come help Paddy launch the campaign. Hear the songs, have a drink or a pizza and if you are feeling generous donate (or pledge to share the campaign with your network).
