Painting a Surfboard

3-week series of classes

Have you ever wanted to paint a surfboard to display as a work of art?

The aim of these 3 sessions is to teach you how to:

Clean and prepare the surface of a second-hand surfboard for display purposes.
Create a design on paper.
Develop your design and transfer the artwork onto a surfboard.
Then paint/colour the surfboard.
Finally varnish it.

Equipment:

Six second-hand surfboards are available,
pencil, paper,
water based house paint/ acrylic paint/gouache,
wax comb (from the surf shop),
mask,
gloves,
water based estapol/varnish,
water based primer.

Dates: Tuesday 26/11, 31/11, 03/12.

Time: 1:00 - 4:00 pm

About the tutor

Kim is a qualified Textile Designer/Colourist. She has conducted one Surfboard Design Workshop at a local High School. She also organises the Life Drawing Sessions @ WAG.
