Sun, 2 Mar, 9am - 12pm ACDT

Event description

Join other Green Pakapakanthi citizen science volunteers in monitoring the 6-month-old Miyawaki#2 pocket forest that was planted at the Victoria Park Wetland last September. We will measure and compare plant growth and biodiversity in the Miyawaki forest and the adjacent control pocket forest which was planted at the same time, including pollinator and ground-dwelling insect numbers, soil condition and microclimate.

For those who assisted with the plantings last September please join us again. If you’ve not been involved, please consider volunteering.

You will find it an enjoyable experience joining others to provide new information on the suitability of the Miyawaki revegetation method for rapidly restoring native habitat in Adelaide’s parks and streets. No prior expertise or training is required, and all equipment is provided. You will receive instructions and assistance on-site from Green Pakapakanthi pocket forest makers Roz Caust and Andy Blanc.

On the day, please wear enclosed shoes (no sandals) and long sleeves and pants. Bring gardening gloves, hat and sunscreen protection - and your wet weather gear if rain is forecast.

Please fill out a registration separately for each person, including children.
