Join us for a panel discussion, responding to James Barth's exhibition The Clumped Spirit. We will be joined by John Edmond, a film programmer, who runs the film society Container, Julie Fragar, painter and Associate Professor at Queensland College of Art, and Kyle Weise Curator at University of Queensland Art Museum.


John Edmond works around film. A researcher and programmer, he currently runs Container, a film and moving image screening series.

A/Prof Julie Fragar is the Program Director of Visual Art and Head of Painting at the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University. Fragar has exhibited in major institutions and exhibitions including: The National: New Australian Art, Carriageworks, Sydney (2019); Ramsay Art Prize, Art Gallery of South Australia, Adelaide (2017); and GOMA Q: Contemporary Queensland Art, Gallery of Modern Art, Brisbane (2015). Her work is held in major public collections nationally including the Art Gallery of NSW; Art Gallery of South Australia; and the Queensland Art Gallery of Modern Art. Fragar's recent survey exhibition, Biograph, toured to museum across QLD and NSW between 2022-2024.

Kyle Weise is a writer and curator. Alongside independent curatorial projects, he was the Curator at Metro Arts (Meanjin/Brisbane, 2018-2023), a committee member of Kings ARI (Naarm/Melbourne, 2009-11) and, with long-term collaborator Simone Hine, co-founded and co-directed Screen Space (Naarm, 2010-16), Beam Contemporary (Naarm, 2010-20) and Kuiper Projects (Meanjin/Brisbane, 2017-ongoing). Kyle was recently appointed Curator at the University of Queensland Art Museum.
