Two-Day Paper Mache Workshop

I’m excited to introduce a new Paper Mâché Sculpture Workshop at Dune Lakes — a chance to turn simple materials into something completely your own. Your sculpture could become anything from a dish, pot or vase to an animal figure or something that exists only in your imagination. Inspired by my own journey of creating sculptures from almost nothing — paper, wire, cardboard and glue — I’ve discovered just how much character can emerge from such humble materials. And, what else would anyone expect from me but horses, of course! From my Stone Age-inspired horse with its ancient, expressive form, to a Mare and Foal finished in aged bronze and verdigris, each began with simple materials and gradually developed its own character, personality and story.

This is a hands-on, creative workshop to have fun, slow down, play with form and discover what can emerge from almost nothing!!! There is no need to be “artistic” or have previous experience — just a willingness to experiment, get messy and see what emerges. 

17 October - Day One -Paper Mache Sculpture Workshop. The first day of workshop includes designing and shaping the sculpture, building the basic form which has to dry.

31 October - Day Two -Paper Mache Sculpture Workshop. The second day includes making the paper mâché, adding layers, creating texture and character, and experimenting with different finishes. I’ll share the techniques I’ve used in my own creations — while encouraging everyone to develop their own style.
