Papermaking Playdate - The Art of the Heart
Event description
In this Valentine's Day-themed playdate for adults, we'll be making recycled paper using templates, inclusions, and color. Participants can sign up as an individual or a pair to get creative with their pulp vats.** We'll have some appropriately-themed snacks, but feel free to bring snacks of your own!
This session focuses on Western-style papermaking, which uses a mould and deckle to form sheets. We'll toss in some other techniquest that will allow you to create heart-shaped paper or paper with hearts embedded or added on. We'll have some pink and red inclusion and/or pulp to help seal the deal. This experience is less workshop and more about having fun.
Making handmade paper is a relaxing process, but be prepared to have your hands in water for most of the session. Dress appropriately for getting a bit wet. Also, while the paper sizes we'll be working with don't require a lot of physical exertion, please expect to spend some time on your feet.
This class is open to participants ages 18+. ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST HAVE A WAIVER ON FILE. We will have hard copies avialable on site. Please also refer to our parking and accessibility information.
** Participants who sign up with a solo ticket will have their own vat and mould/deckle, but we are also offering a highly discounted duo ticket that allows two people to share a vat and tools. It's a great option for partners, spouses, good friends, and even family members.
