Welcome to our series of workshops designed specifically for parents/guardians living with blindness or low vision. Facilitated by the Guide Dogs Victoria Wellbeing Team and parents with lived experience, these online sessions provide practical advice and supportive strategies for navigating everyday parenting challenges. Whether you're looking for tips on managing daily routines, fostering strong bonds with your child, or ensuring safety and independence, these workshops are designed to empower you with the tools and knowledge to thrive. Register for one or more sessions—each offering valuable insights to support you on your parenting journey. These workshops also provide an opportunity for parents/guardians to connect, share experiences, and offer their own strategies to create a supportive community.
Session 4 - Playtime and Learning: Adapting Activities for a Shared Experience
Some of the discussion topics will include:
- Tactile games, sensory play and inclusive activities
- How to choose accessible toys and books
- Encouraging independent play while staying engaged
- Identifying appropriate playgrounds and supervising at playgrounds
