Park to Pub Fun Run - DERBYFEST
Description
Kick off DerbyFest with the Park to Pub Fun Run — an approximately 8km community run or walk along one of Derby’s most picturesque trails, Valley Ponds, before finishing at the pub.
Whether you’re chasing a time, getting the family moving or simply keen to soak up the scenery, this one is for everyone.
Event Details
Date: Saturday October 17
Registration: From 8:00am at the back of the Dorset Hotel
Race Start: 9:00am
Distance: Approximately 8km
Finish: Through the front door of The Dorset Hotel, Derby.
The course follows the beautiful Valley Ponds Trail around the mirror lake, with a highway crossing towards the end of the route. This crossing will be marshalled, however all participants are asked to proceed with care.
Finish Line Cheers
Cross the finish line through the front doors of the Dorset Hotel, where every participant will be welcomed with FREE Finish Line Flirt Spritz — non-alcoholic and refreshing.
Your ticket also includes a free shuttle to the Branxholm Recreation Ground at the start of the day, so you can leave the logistics to us and enjoy the celebrations at the end.
Shuttles will depart the Dorset Hotel (with a Up Down Around Bus) at 8.00am, 8.15am, 8.30am and 8.45am in prep for the race start at the Branxholm Recreation Ground at 9am.
You are also welcome to get yourself to the rec if that's easier too!

PARTICIPANT RISK ACKNOWLEDGEMENT, WAIVER AND CONSENT

IMPORTANT WARNING: RUNNING AND WALKING CAN RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY, PERMANENT DISABILITY OR DEATH. PARTS OF THIS COURSE USE PUBLIC ROADS THAT REMAIN OPEN TO TRAFFIC. READ THIS FORM CAREFULLY BEFORE SIGNING.
1. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF RISKS
I UNDERSTAND That participating in the DerbyFest 2026 Fun Run involves risks, including:
Slips, trips and falls on uneven, loose, wet or slippery surfaces.
Contact with other participants, pedestrians, vehicles, cyclists, animals or obstacles.
Injuries such as sprains, strains, fractures and head injuries.
Physical exertion, fatigue, dehydration, heat illness or exposure to cold and wet weather.
Aggravation of an existing medical condition or a medical emergency, including a cardiac event.
Serious injury, permanent disability or death.
Loss of or damage to personal belongings.
These risks may arise during warm-up, participation and movement within the event area. Course management, safety instructions and other precautions cannot eliminate all risks.
Public roads remain open to traffic
I understand that sections of the fun run course use public roads that will not be closed to traffic. Vehicles, cyclists and other road users may be present. Participants do not have exclusive use of the road or automatic right of way.
I acknowledge the risk of collision with vehicles or other road users, which may result in serious injury, permanent disability or death. I must remain alert, obey applicable road rules and follow the designated route and instructions of event officials.
I must check for traffic before crossing any road and cross only when safe. I understand that the presence of marshals does not mean traffic has stopped or that it is safe to cross.
I have had the opportunity to ask questions about the activity and its risks. I freely choose to participate and accept the risks associated with participation.
2. No-insurance declaration
The organiser has advised me that no insurance is in place for the DerbyFest 2026 Fun Run, including no participant personal accident insurance or public liability insurance covering this activity.
I understand that the organiser has not arranged insurance benefits for my injury, disability, death, medical treatment, ambulance transport, loss of income or property damage.
I understand that any insurance I personally hold may exclude organised running events or similar activities. I am responsible for checking my own cover and deciding whether to participate.
I understand that costs and losses arising from my participation may fall to me, subject to any legal rights I retain.
4. Participation and safety requirements
I agree to:
Attend any safety briefing and follow the event rules and instructions of officials and marshals.
Stay on the designated course and obey road-crossing and traffic instructions.
Use footpaths where available along the designated route.
Remain alert on sections of road that are open to traffic and cross roads only when safe.
Avoid headphones or other distractions that prevent me from hearing approaching traffic or safety instructions.
Wear suitable footwear and clothing for the course and weather conditions.
Participate at a pace and distance appropriate to my fitness, ability and health.
Seek medical advice before participating if I have concerns about my suitability.
Carry or have access to any medication I may require.
Not participate while affected by alcohol, illicit drugs or medication that impairs safe participation.
Show consideration for other participants and road users and avoid dangerous behaviour.
Report hazards, injuries or concerns to an official.
Stop and seek assistance if I feel unwell, experience chest pain, dizziness, unusual breathlessness or injury.
Withdraw if instructed by an official or if I consider continued participation unsafe.
Comply with the organiser’s requirements for adult supervision of children, including on open-road sections.
I understand that the organiser may refuse entry, stop my participation, change the route or cancel the event for safety reasons.
5. Limited waiver and release
To the extent permitted by law, I release Blue Derby Foundation Limited and its event officials, employees and volunteers from liability for personal injury, death or property damage arising from my participation, including liability arising from negligence, but only where that liability may lawfully be excluded.
This clause does not exclude any right, guarantee or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. It does not exclude liability for reckless conduct where exclusion is prohibited by law.
I understand that this form may affect my legal rights and that I may obtain independent advice before signing.
6. Medical assistance
If I am injured or become unwell, I consent to first aid and to the organiser arranging emergency medical assistance or ambulance transport where reasonably necessary.
I understand that treatment remains subject to applicable consent requirements and that I may be responsible for associated costs, subject to any insurance cover or legal entitlement.

I have read and understood this form, including the risk warning, open-road acknowledgement and no-insurance declaration.
I understand that parts of the course use public roads that remain open to traffic.
The information I have provided is accurate.
I have had the opportunity to ask questions and received satisfactory answers.
I voluntarily agree to participate on the terms set out above.
Participants under 18 must also have the following section completed by a parent or legal guardian.
8. Parent or legal guardian consent
I am the parent or legal guardian of the participant named above and have authority to consent to their participation.
I have read and understood the risks described in this form, including the possibility of serious injury, permanent disability or death and the declaration that no insurance is in place.
I understand that sections of the course use public roads that remain open to traffic, and that vehicles, cyclists and other road users may be present.
I have explained the activity, risks and safety rules to the child in a way appropriate to their age and understanding, including the need to remain alert to traffic and cross roads only when safe.
I consider the chosen distance suitable for their health, fitness and ability, subject to the organiser’s entry requirements.
I consent to their participation and to first aid and emergency assistance being arranged as described above. I will remain at the event or ensure that a responsible adult is present and contactable, and comply with any requirements for accompanying children on the course, particularly on open-road sections.
Checking the box records my consent and acknowledgement. It does not purport to waive any rights of the child that cannot lawfully be waived.
9. Collection of information
The organiser will use the information on this form for participant registration, event safety, emergency response and incident management. Relevant information may be provided to emergency services where necessary.
