The Gisborne Walking Club invites you to join them on the Parklands and Botanic Gardens! THE KYNETON RIVER WALK: Grade 2 (Easy). This walk is part of the Try Bushwalking Month, celebrating the 90th Anniversary of Bushwalking Victoria, the peak body representing 60+ bushwalking clubs across Victoria

This is an early morning walk is suited to walkers who enjoy an easy meandering walk through parklands and a local café to finish.

DISTANCE:   6.4 km Duration 1.5 hrs. plus breaks and café after.

WHO IS THIS WALK FOR?  This walk is suited to walkers with little or no experience in walking with a group

CHILDREN AND PETS:  This walk is for adults 18 years and over, and due to the nature of the walk, we ask you to leave dogs and other pets at home.  Please contact the club directly to inquire about service animals, and any family or pet friendly walks.  

AWT Grade: 2 (Easy) AWT Grade information. 

PACE: Steady easy pace with breaks.

TOTAL ASCENT: 152m with no steep inclines.

WALK DESCRIPTION: Out & back walk, along pathways in the Kyneton Botanic Gardens. These beautiful old, landscaped gardens border the Campaspe River, in this historic Victorian town. With very little undulation, this is a perfect way to begin your day. Once finished we will meet at a local café, to finish.

MEETING POINT: Is in the carpark, opposite the Gisborne Aquatic Centre.  We will meet here, and carpool/convoy the 30 min to the start of the walk at the Kyneton Botanic Gardens (Google Map). GPS coordinates: -37.25345, 144.45210

CARPOOLING/PUBLIC TRANSPORT: There will be carpooling available at the Gisborne meeting point.

PHONE SIGNAL: Phone signal is good.

TOILETS: There are public toilets at the start/finish.

WHAT TO BRING

Mandatory:

● Emergency contact form with medical info (from welcome pack)

● 1.0L water

● Backpack

● Rain jacket

● Hiking shoes/boots

● Personal first aid kit (your health is your responsibility)

● Sun hat/sunscreen

Recommended: 

● Hiking poles

● Bug spray

EXTRA INFORMATION: Either Elizabeth or Laraine will contact you a week prior to the walk, to discuss any questions that you may have. However, please feel to contact us early if you are concerned about anything regarding this walk.

ABOUT OUR CLUB: Gisborne Bushwalking Club (GBWC) is over 40 years old and a membership of approximately 80. Members are drawn from the Macedon Ranges, Sunbury and beyond, with some members travelling from Melbourne suburbs. Membership comprises a range of ages, abilities, backgrounds and interests. GBWC offers mainly day walks, activities include hiking with a pack, overnight camping, and sunrise/sunset walks. Victorian and interstate base camps, are popular with cabin accommodation arranged for periods from a weekend to a week or more. Visit our website.
