There is a seat waiting for you.

Join us December 21st for special Parlor For the People. This salon we will explore what makes a healing home, family and community.

Parlor for the People is an immersive wellness and community engagement experience designed to foster meaningful conversation and collective action. Inspired by the Lincoln League, the Colored Conventions of the 1800s, the salons of Harlem Renaissance, the women of the Combahee River Collective, Georgia Gilmore's House, and events hosted by Dr. Acklyn Lynch like Wild Women Don't Wear No Blues.

In the Parlor, we combine art, mindfulness, and herbal tea to create a serene yet dynamic space for addressing critical community issues. Each session begins with a guided meditation, setting the tone for open dialogue. Participants then engage in curated discussions to explore diverse perspectives on a specific community issue, break into smaller groups to develop solutions, and reconvene to share ideas. The session culminates in the creation of a collective community agreement, outlining actionable steps to collaboratively address the issue. With an herbalist on hand to introduce healing teas that promote relaxation and clarity, the salon offers a unique blend of cultural enrichment, wellness, and grassroots problem-solving.

This event is made possible by the Andy Warhol Foundation Wherewithal Grant, WACIF and MÃK Apothecary. Proceeds benefit future programming and training for MĀK Youth.
