If you’re searching for a night of truly chilling ghost hunting, this desolate former House of Correction is exactly what you’ve been waiting for. With almost 200 years of history, this grim and atmospheric prison, built in the 1830s, stands as one of the oldest surviving jails in the country.

Over the years, countless reports of shadowy figures and unexplained activity have been recorded within these walls. Considering the many lives lost on the premises, it’s little wonder that Old Parramatta Gaol has earned its reputation as one of the most foreboding and terrifying locations in the region.

What is involved in a Ghost Hunt?

A ghost hunt is an interactive paranormal investigation where you become the investigator. Rather than simply hearing stories, you’ll have the opportunity to explore a historic location after dark and take part in real paranormal experimentation.

During the evening you will:

• Learn the history of the location and the stories behind reported hauntings and unexplained events.

• Investigate alongside experienced guides, who will explain different investigation techniques and how to use equipment.

• Participate in paranormal experiments, such as spirit communication sessions, vigils and observation periods.

• Use equipment commonly used in ghost hunting, including EMF meters, spirit boxes, trigger objects and audio recorders (equipment may vary by event).

• Spend time in quiet vigils where you can observe, listen, and experience the atmosphere of the location.

• Enjoy free investigation time, allowing you to explore, ask questions, and run your own experiments in small groups.

No experience is necessary — whether you’re a seasoned investigator or simply curious, ghost hunts are designed to be immersive, atmospheric and thought-provoking.

While we can never guarantee paranormal activity, many guests report unusual sensations, unexplained sounds, temperature changes, or moments they simply can’t explain.
