“Nowies, ferries and marine villas” A look at the Parramatta River as barrier, transport link, boundary and object of desire. We will explore tool-making, food gathering, early punts, ferries and elegant houses looking out on the water and the impact of a series of bridges linking the centre of Sydney with the North Shore in the 1880s.
