Online Documentary Film: PART 3: The Phenomenon of Bruno Groening

The third part of the documentary film THE PHENOMENON BRUNO GROENING examines the tragic, seemingly unavoidable destiny of the life and work of Bruno Groening. On the one hand, there are the trial and his surprisingly untimely death, on the other hand the continuous, inexplicable healings.

The events around Groening ended tragically

Despite all resistance and counterforces, miraculous healings continued around Bruno Groening. Although he only appeared as a lecturer and did not perform any healing activity, something kept happening which medical expertise could only describe as miracles: Healings from illnesses that were chronic and even classified as incurable. Nevertheless, the authorities and the legal system tried every possible means to stop the Bruno Groening phenomenon once and for all. In 1955, he was brought to trial, which lasted four years and went through three instances before being dismissed at Groening’s death. This presents a strong contrast between the healings on the one hand and efforts to eliminate Groening on the other. Why was such an “exceptional phenomenon” – as prime minister Ehard called Groening in 1949 – opposed in such a relentless way?

This extraordinary documentary film addresses those questions and follows the tracks of a phenomenon that still excites, even today. Reports from 50 eyewitnesses, hundreds of photos and documents are shown, and re-enactment scenes complement original film footage to present the events back then.
