Partnering for Nature: Nature Connect
Event description
Through Priority One's Partnering for Nature programme, we’ve connected with a host of local businesses who want to learn more about supporting local projects and investing in a healthy whenua.
Next in our event series is Nature Connect, where we will learn about our region’s nature projects and what they require from business to flourish. This is your chance to identify specific projects that align with your business brand and values, inspire your staff, and help you develop meaningful partnerships with shared benefits.
Presenters:
Bay Conservation Alliance CE, Michelle Elborn, will speak about community conservation across the Bay of Plenty, the 35 volunteer groups BCA currently supports, what the projects are achieving collectively and what help they are seeking from business.
Louise Saunders, Manaaki Kaimai Mamaku Trust CE, will present the value of Kaimai Mamaku ecosystem services, the eight iwi and hapū-led conservation projects the Trust supports, and the scale of investment needed.
Project Parore, an environmental charity that's restoring freshwater quality, habitats and biodiversity in the northern Tauranga Harbour, will showcase the positive social and environmental impacts they’re achieving, and the benefits of investing.
Otawa Waitaha a Hei, the te taiao restoration project of Waitaha iwi. This project has a field team of five that utilise mātauranga Māori and best-practice to effectively manage their 550ha ground-based pest control network in Otawa, behind Te Puke.
