Event description

Join us for an enlightening evening as we delve into Past & Parallel Lives, the award-winning debut poetry collection by Kaya Ortiz. This compelling work reflects on themes of identity, migration, and queerness, offering a courageous departure from past lives toward a queer future and a poetic return to self.

Kaya Ortiz, a queer Filipino poet from the southern islands of Mindanao and Lutruwita/Tasmania, brings a unique perspective to their writing, exploring the fluidity of borders, memory, and time.

In conversation with Kaya is Ange Seen Yang, a Perth-based writer and lawyer with a passion for exploring how food connects individuals to their heritage and shapes their identities. Ange's work has been featured in SBS Food, Gourmet Traveller, and Broadsheet.

Expect a thoughtful discussion on belonging, identity, and the transformative power of poetry.
