Meander Region Church Organ Tour
Event description
A recital tour led by organists Hans Meijer and Gerrit Brouwer, showcasing five churches' organs in Northern Tasmania: St Marks Anglican Church in Deloraine (10:00am), Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Westbury (11:30am), St Marys Anglican Church in Hagley (1:30pm), St Andrews Anglican Church in Carrick (2:45pm), and the Free Reformed Church in Legana (4:15pm).Â
Three to five classical pieces will be played on the organ in each location, from composers J S Bach, C Balbastre, D Buxtehude, O Dienel, G F Handel, C Franck, J Pachelbel, G Lasceux, F Mendelssohn, J Stanley, D Zipoli, and J Zwart.
Heritage specialist Ian Boersma will accompany the tour to provide a brief commentary on points of architectural and historical interest at the places visited.Â
PROCEEDS from ticket sales will be donated to the parishes of the churches visited to assist them in maintaining these special instruments.
MEMBERSÂ of any of the host churches may attend the recital at their church for a gold coin donation, but must have a ticket if they wish to participate in the tour.
MEET at St Marks Anglican Church, 7 East Westbury Place Deloraine, at 9:45am to register.  The programme commences at 10:00am. Participants must arrange their own transport. The programme includes a lunch break (self catering) from 12:30 to 1:30pm.
