Pat McKenzie Watercolour Weekend (2 days) - A New Way to Watercolour!
Event description
PAT MCKENZIE WATERCOLOUR WEEKEND - Mix up your watercolour technique!
Dates: Saturday 12th AND Sunday 13th October 2024
Time: 10am – 4 pm on both days.
Watercolour is a very exciting medium to paint, however in this workshop we will be changing things around.
We always tend to paint light to dark in the traditional way of watercolour, however what happens when we begin with the darks, and I mean DARKS, then progress to mid tones and then the light tones at the end?
We will spend two days exploring this method and will come away with two finished paintings.
A great way to liven up your watercolours or to start exploring a new medium you have always wanted to try. Look at the materials list and you will see you will only need 5 colours to achieve this.
REQUIRED MATERIALS LIST:
Paper – 300 gsm cold press Arches. Size 27cm x 37cm
- Another smaller sheet, approx. 38 x 18 for a colour swatch.
Palette - A large FLAT palette approx. 28cm x 38cm with a small lip around the edge.
Brushes - 2 or more large mop brushes and a couple of smaller sizes, whatever you have.
Bring along your usual palette of artists quality watercolour paints and these five specific paint colours:
1. Ultramarine Blue
2. Permanent Rose
3. Cadmium Yellow Dark (OR Winsor Yellow)
4. Van dyke Brown
5. Cobalt Turquoise Light
NO substitutes in colours will do! You will not get the desired result if you substitute the colours. Winsor & Newton, or Holbein artists quality paints are ideal. If you don’t have a colour, you can have some of mine.
BYO lunch. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided by the Anglesea Art House.
