Patchwork Rug or Cushion Workshop

Sew fun for kids! is a place to learn all about sewing while making fun projects that you can take home and treasure.

In this fun school holiday workshop you will learn how to sew your own patchwork lap rug or patchwork cushion. 

There are two patchwork rug designs to choose from:

- Square patch rug - this pieced design is made from squares of fun patterned fabrics

- Rainbow stripes rug - this bright design is made from stripes of solid rainbow fabrics with a fun fleece backing. 

There are two patchwork cushions to choose from:

- Shine bright sunrise cushion - perfect for both beginners and experienced sewists

- Heart applique cushion - ideal for those with previous sewing experience. 

This workshop is suitable for boys and girls aged 7 and up. All fabrics and accessories will be provided. 

You will learn how to:

- use a sewing machine to sew straight lines 

- use patchwork techniques

- piece a quilt or cushion

- use wadding to add warmth to a quilt

- hand stitch.

You will take home your beautiful lap rug or cushion at the end of the workshop.

You will need to bring along morning tea, lunch and a water bottle. Please do not include any food items that contain nuts or traces of nuts.

Sew fun for kids! accepts Service NSW Creative Kids vouchers. If you would like to use a voucher, select the Creative Kids voucher ticket. The ticket price will be reduced to to reflect the use of the $50 voucher. You will also be required to enter:

- the voucher number

- your child's name

- your child's date of birth.

All of these details are required for me to register your voucher.

A minimum of 4 children are required for the workshop to go ahead. This workshop has a maximum of 8 participants.


The workshops run from 9am to 4pm at 4/31 Terminus St, Castle Hill. Our studio has an internal toilet so children do not need to leave the studio during the day.

Please note, we are unable to provide a refund if a cancellation is made less than two weeks prior to the workshop as we will have purchased all of the fabrics and accessories for your child. In the event you are unable to attend we are very happy to provide you with the fabric kit and pattern instructions for you to pick up from the studio and create at home.
