Wed, 23 Jul, 5:30am - 6:30am EDT

Event description

Maddie Riewoldt's Vision is proud to present a virtual educational session for individuals and families affected by Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes, focused on two important research initiatives: the Aplastic Anaemia and Other Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes Registry (AAR) and the Australian Marrow Failure Biobank (AMFB).

The session will explore how these programs support research into better treatments and cures. Most importantly, the session is designed to empower patients and families to lead conversations with their clinicians — encouraging the question: “How can I participate in Bone Marrow Failure Syndrome research?”

We’ll explore the processes, challenges, and opportunities of participating in research, helping demystify what it means to contribute to these vital efforts.

Expert guest speakers include:

-        Dr Lucy Fox - Haematologist, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre; Clinical Research Fellow, Transfusion Research Unit, Monash University

-        Professor Melissa Southey - Chair of Precision Medicine, School of Clinical Sciences at Monash University and Director of Biobanking Victoria

-        Professor Erica Wood - Haematologist, Monash Health; Head, Transfusion Research Unit, School of Public Health & Preventive Medicine, Monash University

The event will feature presentations from our guest speakers, followed by a 30-minute question and answer session to address patient and family queries.

The format will be virtual only, via Zoom (the link will be sent out the week of the event).

Maddie’s Vision is committed to tailoring these educational sessions to meet your needs. To get the most out of the session, when completing the registration form, please take the opportunity to submit questions to guest speakers prior to the event.

We look forward to seeing you ‘virtually’ on 23 July!
