Event description

Parenting is intense, especially when you're faced with yelling, tantrums or violent behavior. This workshop will teach simple tools to help you connect better with your children and move towards a calm and safe home. Whether you’re struggling with a defiant teenager, a feral toddler or an anxious primary schooler, this workshop offers practical advice to help you build your relationships with your kids. You’re doing your best with what you have now, and there’s always more to learn. Sometimes one little change can shift everything.

  • Learn how to argue less and reconnect faster after conflict.
  • Create a culture of respect and consent in your family.
  • Support your neurosparkley child with dignity and care.
  • Build stronger, more connected relationships with your kids.
  • Develop tools to stay calm and in control when emotions run high.
  • Find alternatives to force and punishment that work.

Rachel will share concepts based on Nonviolent Communication (NVC) that teach us how to connect with any human (including ourselves, and our kids even if they can’t talk) with kindness. NVC is a powerful framework, a philosophy and a set of practical tools for aligning what we do and say with our core values. It can help shift us towards consent-based and respectful relationships in our families as well as in organisations and businesses.

As well as studying NVC for two decades, Rachel has also been schooled in the trenches of parenting a wild ADHDer & dysregulated anxious kiddo, single parenting and homeschooling. Her sixteen year old can talk about his feelings and still hugs his mum in public.

Testomonials from past attendees:

‘Loved working off the OFNR dance floor to uncover my patterns and learn new options and choices. Thanks so much for sharing your wisdom so kindly and with such safety.’

‘The openness and warmth works wonderfully.’

‘It was a perfect balance of theory and practice, lots of ideas to take away and trial. Thankyou both for your time and sense of calm. My life is richer for meeting you.’
