PEACEMAKERS – THE MANAWATŪ

Based on a true story.

Set against the dramatic landscape of nineteenth-century New Zealand, Peacemakers tells the remarkable story of Hoani Meihana Te Rangiotū, a Rangitāne leader whose life was shaped by tribal conflict, loss, faith and an extraordinary determination to bring peace to his people.

From the violence of his childhood to his emergence as a respected leader, Hoani's journey intertwines with that of Anglican missionary Octavius Hadfield. Together, their friendship bridges two cultures during a turbulent period in New Zealand's history.

As tensions rise over land, tribal boundaries and the threat of war, Hoani faces a defining choice between the traditions of utu and a new path of reconciliation.

Peacemakers is a powerful historical drama exploring courage, sacrifice, faith and forgiveness, revealing a little-known story of the Manawatū and the enduring legacy of those who chose peace over conflict.
