Fitness Hike - Event Leader Taryn

Join us for a stunning hike from Blairgowrie to Rye! This adventure features a mix of beach walks and cliff-top paths, with the breathtaking Bass Strait by our side the entire way. Feel the invigorating salty air as we navigate the narrow coastal track, with waves crashing below us. This hike offers an excellent cardio workout paired with great company. Don't miss out on this unforgettable experience!

This hike is rated intermediate and is not suitable for beginners. A moderate level of fitness and stamina is required. We maintain a steady pace but do stop occasionally for photos and snacks.

THINGS TO NOTE:

  • $2.40 from every ticket purchased is returned to PARKS Victoria

  • Public Liability insurance covered

  • First aid qualified

  • This is a loop walk and will return to the start location.

WHAT IS A FITNESS HIKER?

Walks at a brisk pace of approximately 9.5–12.5 minutes per kilometre on challenging, undulating terrain. Designed for those with a high level of fitness who regularly exercise and are comfortable with minimal breaks. Not suitable for beginners.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE WALK:

- Beach walking

- Some inclines

- Uneven ground

- Sandy sections of the track - good stamina required

- Exceptional views!!!

- Great people

- Improved fitness

- No toilet

WHAT TO BRING:

- Water

- Snack. Ie: Banana, high protein snack, Jam sandwich.

- Electrolyte energy drink

WHAT TO WEAR:

- A good pair of walking shoes is necessary, which could be hiking shoes or boots. It is recommended to avoid jogging runners as they may not provide enough grip, although it is not a strict requirement. No open toe shoes.

- Decent socks. Ie: a mix of wool, nylon & elastane. Non bulky (Visit hiking stores)

- Compact lightweight jacket - optional

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

This walk is NOT suitable for children (18+), babies in carriers or for people who do not walk more than 5km’s at a time. This is a National Park, therefore no dogs or animals allowed.
