Join us for a special road safety presentation and help save lives… 

 South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) Road Awareness Program (RAP) 

The RAP is a powerful safety initiative for all road users. It provides frank and at times confronting accounts of what firefighters experience daily in responding to road crashes. It is presented to inspire and motivate South Australians of all ages to be responsible on our roads. The RAP focuses on drivers, passengers and pedestrians, seeking to engage and empower new and experienced road users around all elements of road safety. 

‘I don’t want another person to go through the pain I go through on a daily basis or the pain that my family goes through on a daily basis.’ 

An integral aspect of the RAP includes a moving presentation from past Pembroke parent and crash survivor Yudhi Mohan-Ram. Yudhi was given a 10% chance of survival and spent 46 days in a coma after a car driven by a P-plater ran a stop sign and struck him on his motorcycle in 2002. Now a tireless road safety advocate, Yudhi’s heart-rending story and powerful message are a must for all road users – be it behind the wheel, in the passenger seat or simply crossing the road. 

This presentation occurs all over our state as part of the important work which aims to keep South Australians safe on our roads. The Pembroke connection with Yudhi further demonstrates that road trauma affects countless lives and that road safety is everyone’s business.

The RAP will also be presented to our Year 11 students earlier in the day. Notwithstanding that, families with young people aged 15+ who are not in Year 11 are welcome to attend this evening session as we try to further spread and reinforce these life-saving messages.
