Event description

Target Audience: Palliative care professionals working in or closely with specialist palliative care services who are interested in becoming a PEPA Mentor to support their organisation as a Host site for PEPA placements.

Mentoring is defined as a relationship between an experienced and a less experienced person in which the mentor provides guidance, advice, support and feedback to the mentee to support their future experience and growth.

This workshop is designed for experienced health professionals who wish to mentor and share their palliative care knowledge with others. Prior to registering for the workshop, applicants are required to complete the online PEPA Mentoring modules PEPA Mentoring - PEPA (pepaeducation.com) as the workshop will build on the concepts and topics covered in the online program.

For those who may have been Mentors in the past (Prior to July 1st 2022) this workshop will act as a refresher program to ensure your ongoing professional development as a PEPA/IPEPA Mentor.

All those wishing to act as a PEPA Host Site Mentor for their workplace in Victoria, need to complete the online Mentor module (add link) and attend one of the regularly scheduled PEPA Mentor training workshops in order to do so, unless they can provide evidence of completing a substantive training program in Mentoring or education that can be considered equivalent.

This is essential to ensure that participants in PEPA/IPEPA placements have support and resources from our Host Sites to get the best learning outcomes possible. PEPA Victoria is committed to ensuring ongoing professional development and learning opportunities for Host Site Mentors within our quality framework. All registered Host Site Mentors will receive a certificate and PEPA Mentor badge on completion of both the module and the workshop and will be invited to join the Host Site Mentor Community of Practice which meets on Teams bimonthly.

We look forward to offering more development opportunities for Host Site Mentors as guided by the members of the Community of Practice.
