Target Audience: Patient Care Assistants, Assistants in Nursing, OT Assistants, Paid Carer's. 

Education Overview: To develop knowledge, skills and confidence in the palliative approach to care for Patient Care Assistants/ Assistants in Nursing working in various health care settings. enabling them to effectively implement the palliative approach to care.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understanding what the palliative approach is.
  • Understanding your role within the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Delivering holistic person , carer and family centred care.
  • Developing communication skills in end-of-life and palliative care.
  • Understanding Advance Care Planning within WA and how to start the conversation with your client. 
  • Identify, assess and manage common palliative symptoms. 
  • Identify appropriate palliative care tools. 
  • Identify the terminal stage and care after death
  • Understanding of local palliative care services and referral process. 
  • Caring for yourself the health professional
