Event description

TABOO is partnering with the City of Adelaide Council to make menstrual health education more accessible in the community.  Join TABOO Period Products for a free education workshop open to anyone in Adelaide who wants to learn more about Perimenopause and Menopause.

What

When it comes to menopause women have been trained to wait until their symptoms begin to occur, then suffer through the hot flushes and night sweats! The perimenopause and menopause workshop is an interactive session to help individuals begin to understand the perimenopause phase of their menstrual cycle, with a focus on the underlying biology, anatomy and why the process is important, plus understanding phase based exercises during perimenopause. Perimenopause means “around menopause” and it starts for most women around age 35 and lasts until menopause (your very last bleed), so this is exactly who the presentation will be appropriate for!

Key Takeaways:

  1. Improved understanding of perimenopause, leading into menopause and the phases of both stages
  2. An insight into the underlying biological processes of menopause and why the process occurs, plus menstrual phase based exercises important for menopause.
  3. An opportunity for the audience to engage in open and honest conversations about menopause.

Who:

Our brilliant head of speaking engagements, Eva, is an accredited exercise physiologist with a Masters's in both Women’s Health Medicine and Reproductive Medicine. Eva has a wealth of knowledge on menstrual and reproductive health and loves sharing this knowledge with audiences in culturally safe and engaging ways.

This session will be MC'd by the amazing Libby Trainor Parker. Libby is a comedian, author, cabaret tragic, teacher, radio presenter, journalist and cat parent. She has many strings to her bow and no idea how to play violin. Libby has won awards for her work in arts, education and health advocacy, particularly in endometriosis and women’s (AFAB) health. Her five star reviewed, sell-out shows aim to empower, entertain and tickle your funny bones. Libby runs Endo Support SA, was a Director on the Board of Pelvic PainFoundation Australia, is an affiliate member of Australian Coalition for Endometriosis (ACE), co-wrote the national schools program PPEP Talk (Periods, Pain & Endometriosis Program) and has co-authored and worked on committees for various endo research projects.
