Permaculture Demonstrator Skill Set (AHCSS000048)  

This 4 unit Skill Set equips learners with the basic knowledge and practice of permaculture principles, how to select and maintain permaculture plant and animal systems, and ultimately how to research, communicate and demonstrate permaculture practices to learners. This skill set was designed to teach you how to understand and teach about permaculture. It is perfect for teachers in schools, community educators, people with passion for permaculture or who want to build their confidence and practice in sharing knowledge with others.

The course gives you a 4 unit credit in Cert III in Permaculture and qualifies you to teach Cert I and II Permaculture levels in combination with a Cert IV Training and Assessment. The course runs over 14 sessions online and face to face at CERES.

Course Pre-requisites

Whilst there are no formal pre-requisites, prospective students should have:

• language, literacy and numeracy skills at a sufficient level to participate (test to be completed on enrolment)
• digital skills at a sufficient level to participate including the ability to:
• - download, input, save and upload editable PDF documents
• - take and upload photos
• - film and edit videos
• A commitment to attending all classes and undertaking all course requirements.
• An interest in permaculture and some basic knowledge and experience of horticulture/gardening.

Employment and Further Study Pathways

On successful completion graduates can gain employment as a Permaculture Demonstrator/Trainer/Facilitator in non-accredited labour market or community programs.  Combined with a Cert IV TAE and Permaculture industry experience graduates may also deliver accredited Certificate I and II level school, labour market or community programs.  

Graduates may also elect to undertake further training such as the full Certificate III Permaculture (all Skill Set units can be credited to this), a Permaculture Design Course or a Certificate IV Permaculture (two Skill Set units can be credited towards this).

Registered Training Organisation   

CERES is the registered training organisation offering this training -  RTO no 3686.  CERES is registered as an RTO with the VRQA and as such is only able to enrol domestic students in Victoria.

Trainer Bio

Beck Lowe worked closely with David Holmgren on RetroSuburbia as chief
editor, researcher and project manager. Since publication, she has also
taken on the role of education coordinator and has run workshops and
developed resources to help households make positive changes. She is an
enthusiastic and experienced permaculture educator and has been involved
in permaculture training at all levels for more than 15 years. She has
practical permaculture experience in private and community spaces in
inner city, urban and rural areas.
